Rotary Club of Karachi, in collaboration the Memon Institute of Technology (MITI) arranged an impressive seminar on November 17, 2009 for the benefit of children of Classes IX and X.
This programme was conceived, planned and arranged by Rotarian Syed Iqbaluddin Ghazi. Addressing the students and MITI faculty, he said “Rotary Club of Karachi believes that this awareness programme will highly benefit the students and will provide professional guidance and direction in pursuing your careers after graduation.”
This seminar was held within the premises of the Institute. MITI offers courses in several trades including mobile repairer, CNG, Generator, pumps and many others.
Over 250 students from the neighbourhood schools of MITI participated in this Vocational Awareness programme. President Talaat Tyabji and Rotarian Anjum Parvaiz also attended the programme. Mrs Talat Waseem, Regional Director of NATEVTA was the chief guest.
The Chief Operating Officer of MITI in his speech explained the various as well as the very relevant, technical programmes of short duration. These programmes are highly subsidised and students, who were of grades 9th and 10th showed interest in these programmes. Federal Government (NATEVTA) has shown keen interest in supporting MITI by offering stipends of Rs 2,500 per month to each trainee student of MITI.
All the arrangements for transporting the students were borne by Rotary Club of Karachi, thanks to the generous contributions by Rtn Iqbaluddin Ghazi.
