RCK Ramadan Meeting 21st July, 2014

The guest speaker for our Ramadan Meeting on Monday 21st July, 2:30 pm at PC Hotel was Professor Abbas Hussain, A religious Scholar.

Professor Abbas Hussain is a religious scholar. He taught Islamic Studies at the Aga Khan University School of Nursing from 1980 to 1999, co-authored (with Khurram Shafiq) three textbooks of Islamite published by the Oxford University Press.

His personal library contains an almost complete contemporary map of Islamic/Qur’anic studies in English and Urdu. A major strength of his reading is the spirituality of the Abrahamic tradition, and he is keenly interested in the comparative mysticism. Has givenPublic Lectures in London (2001) and Houston (2002) on Quranic themes and severalappearances on Television local channels.

His significant contribution may be defined as an intelligent faith based interpretation of the Quran with a keen eye for the challenges and contradictions of modernity.

His topic was “Bribe”.
