Joining Hands in Lower Sind
RCK Water Pump Project 2013-14
The water pump project is a decade’s long initiative of the Rotary Club of Karachi, currently being supervised by PDG Akhtar Alavi, chair club water and sanitation committee. In the current year the project has so far taken on two new initiatives in Lower Sind.
A donation has been made to the Rotary Club of Naushahro Feroz for installation of 3 hand water pumps and a further 7 are planned, in Hala and Matiari.
Acting on a proposal from the Rotary Club of Hyderabad, a generous donation has been made to the Cardiac Surgery Ward of the Civil Hospital Hyderabad (under the matching grant water supply project) and we are pleased to report progress on the project.
- Underground water tank with RCC base/top slabs & brick masonry walls with water proof internal plaster has been completed
- Overhead water tank with RCC bottom/top slabs, RCC partition wall & brick masonry foundation pillars & walls with waterproof internal plaster has also been completed.
- Drilling of bore hole for water supply is in progress (currently we have completed drilled up to 100 ft.), and is expected to be completed in a few days .
After completion of the bore hole, suction/router pumps will be installed and necessary piping will be completed from the tank up to the third floor. The project is expected to be completed within the next 2 weeks and provide uninterrupted water supply to the Cardiac surgery ward.
